Day One

After an overnight stay in Great Falls, head for Glacier National Park. Following MT 89, cross the Blackfeet Indian Reservation to lunch at St. Mary's Lodge on the east edge of the park. Later, board smaller touring coaches for a trip over the spectacular Going-To-The-Sun Road.

Day Two

This morning head toward the Flathead Valley, and visit the beautifully restored Conrad Mansion in Kalispell. After lunch and a scenic drive along Flathead Lake, tour the National Bison Range at Moiese. Just north of here is the scenic resort community of Whitefish, home of the beautifully restored Great Northern Railroad Depot and Stumptown Historical Museum. Another interesting stop is The Big Mountain, one of Montana's destination ski and summer resorts

Overnight in Missoula, Montana's Garden City.

Day Three

Leave Missoula behind and motor east on I-90. The first stop is in the peaceful Deer Lodge Valley to learn about early ranching life at the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. There is also time to visit the Montana Auto Museum or Old Montana Prison before lunch. This afternoon, it's on to Helena.

Overnight in Helena.

Day Four

Today get a good look at Montana's capital city by riding the Last Chance Tour Train and hear a little about the history of Helena. Visit other local attractions, including the Montana Historical Society before departing this afternoon. It's a 120-mile trip to the hotel this evening in Ennis. A special treat tonight is a visit to Virginia City to enjoy old-fashioned melodrama at its best with the Virginia City Players.

Day Five

It's a short drive today to reach America's most famous national park -Yellowstone. Here in "nature's wonderland," geysers, mud pots and other thermal features spout off. Lunch in the Old Faithful area and watch this famous geyser erupt. In the afternoon, journey to the east half of the park to see Yellowstone Lake and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone with its two spectacular waterfalls.

Day Six

Today, visit Mammoth Hot Springs before leaving Yellowstone at its northeast corner. Stop for lunch in Cooke City before starting the climb over Beartooth Pass. The breathtaking mountain scenery was described by former CBS correspondent Charles Kuralt as the most beautiful drive in America. Pass through the charming, alpine town of Red Lodge before reaching the overnight destination of Billings. If there is time at the beginning and end of your tour, be sure to visit the Charles M. Russell Museum Complex in Great Falls and the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument southeast of Billings. If you are considering an intermodal tour, both Billings and Great Falls have excellent air service.

Day One

Enter Montana on US 2, and stop in Bainville to visit Fort Union Trading Post, an 1828 fur trading post. Moving west, enter the Fort Peck Indian Reservation and stop at Wolf Point, reservation headquarters, for a look at the Wolf Point Area Historical Society Museum and Art Gallery, along with a break for lunch. After a short drive to Fort Peck, stop at the Fort Peck Dam Interpretive Center and Museum. Visitors are treated to a life-size T-rex model and much more. Continue on to Glasgow, visit the Pioneer Museum for a look at the homesteader's life in Montana.

Overnight in Glasgow.

Day Two

Continuing west, cross the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation and enter Havre. In Havre tour the H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum or Havre Beneath the Streets, have lunch and then head for Shelby to visit the Marias Museum of History and Art. From Shelby drive to Browning, on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, and tour the Museum of the Plains Indian.

Overnight in East Glacier.
