Day One

Start the morning with a stroll and tour of historic downtown Billings. Options include the Western Heritage Center and Yellowstone Art Museum. Head east on I-90 with a possible lunch stop in Livingston and tour of the Livingston Depot Center or the Fly Fishing Discovery Center, a center designed to put visitors in the wqorld of fish. Continue west to Bozeman and the Museum of the Rockies' dinosaur exhibits and planetarium show.


Overnight in Bozeman.

Day Two

After a delightful breakfast, head west to Butte to visit the World Museum of Mining and take a moment to stop at the overlook for the Berkeley Pit. After lunch, continue on to Deer Lodge to learn about early ranching life at the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. In the late afternoon, continue on to Missoula for an evening at the downtown Carousel.

Overnight in Missoula.

Day Three

Start your day with a tour at the Smokejumper Visitor Center and then continue north on US 93 with a stop at the Ninepipes Museum for a look at local Indian artifacts and history. Enjoy a great lunch and scenic views beofre continuing on to Polson. A great opportunity to streatch your legs is at the Miracle of America Museum, considered to be the "Smithsonian of the West." Continue north along the shores of the spectacular Flathead Lake to Kalispell.

Overnight in Kalispell or Whitefish.

Day Four

After a lovely morning and a tour of the Conrad Mansion, continue on to Glacier National Park. Options include short day hikes through lush, green forest, scenic boat rides, and the spectactular drive along the Going-to-the-Sun Road in one of the famous historic red buses.

Overnight in Glacier National Park.

Day Five

Depart from Glacier National Park for Great Falls, with a stop in Browning at the Museum of the Plains Indian. Then continue east to Cut Bank for lunch and an opportunity to stretch your legs at the Glacier County Historical Museum, which features living history programs. Continue south of I-15 to Great Falls. After checking in at your hotel, consider either anevening tour of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trial Interpretive Center or the short drive to Ulm Pishkun State Park.

Overnight in Great Falls.

Day Six

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Great Falls with a Historic Trolley Tour, a stroll along the river walk, or a visit to the famed C. M. Russell Museum Complex, which features a fabulous exhibit of the famous Western artist's work. After lunch and an opportunity for shopping, continue east on MT 200 to Lewistown. This evening ride the Charlie Russell Chew-Choo, a unique dinner train experience that carries visitors through many tunnels and over some spectacular trestles (Saturdays only).

Overnight in Lewistown.

Day Seven

Enjoy a superb breakfast in Lewistown before continuing to Billings for the conclusion of your trip.

An extension of this tour could include Yellowstone National Park.
